  • Police say Terry Aultman, 48, and Brenda Aultman, 55, were found stabbed to death Sunday

  • The suspect was identified Thursday by police Chief Jakari Young as Jean R. Macean

A $50,000 reward had been offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Officers said Macean was talking to investigators, but they had not developed a clear motive for what happened.

He is facing two counts of first-degree murder, officials said.

Police say Terry Aultman, 48, and Brenda Aultman, 55, were found stabbed to death a little before 2 a.m. on the grass next to the sidewalk by the intersection of North Wild Olive Avenue and Riverview Boulevard. They had been stabbed repeatedly, investigators said.

The couple's next door neighbor and friend, Frank Stein, was glad that someone had been arrested and charged with the killings, but said it does nothing to bring back Terry and Brenda Aultman.

"It don't relieve any pain with me," he said. "Missing them is just too much to think of."

Brenda’s daughter, Sara Turner, started a GoFundMe account to help pay for unexpected expenses. She said her mom and step-dad were riding their bicycles home from Bike Week when they were murdered. She called it senseless, saying they attacked but not robbed.

“His surprise for her was getting her her own motorcycle, they loved riding bikes they loved bike week and they were just so excited to have their dream home to be a block from the beach,” Turner said.

Stein said the couple often rode their bicycles around the city.

"(Terry) took her our every Saturday night on their bicycles," he said. "They usually went north — they were the best people that were in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Turner didn't mince words when asked about the person who allegedly killed her mother and step-father.

"I want him to rot for the rest of his life in prison," Turner said. "I need to look at him in the eyes and let him know, like, how he has destroyed and broken a lot of people for no reason."

Neighbor Orlando Sequerra told News 13 that he was supposed to ride his motorcycle this week with Terry, known by friends and family as Vann.

“They were nice people,” he said. “Why them?”
