KISSIMMEE, Fla. — It’s not your usual St. Patrick’s Day celebration, but the holiday is still being commemorated in the hearts of many.
Eight young girls who are a part of the Central Florida Irish dancers were getting ready to compete at the An Chomhdháil World Championship, which happens in Ireland around April, except this year, Europe is under a coronavirus lockdown, meaning the competition was canceled.
“So it’s the first year in decades and decades that there is no celebration for St. Patrick's Day. It’s a really sad day, but obviously the Irish people have a great sense of humor, and it will be celebrated when all this comes and done and it’s over,” said Sarah Costello the Director of Central Florida Irish Dance.
There's a possibility the An Chomhdháil World Championship 2020 will be rescheduled.
All adult and child recreation programming are suspended until further notice for Celebration, the city of Kissimmee, and the city of St. Cloud.
