ORLANDO, Fla. — Now that a strong cold front is well to our south, much colder, drier air continues seeping into Central Florida.

A sharply different temperature map greeted us Tuesday, as we dropped out of the 80s for highs Monday into the 60s. As a matter of fact, most of Marion County stayed in the 50s.

A cold, dry airmass plummeting into the Sunshine State is set to keep us closer to average overnight lows for daytime highs the next few days, or a good 10 to nearly 20 degrees below seasonable levels for late November.

Under a clear and starry sky tonight, we are forecasting lows in the low to upper 30s with patchy frost in low lying and wind protected areas north and west of I-4. Just enough of a breeze may keep frost from developing, but will give us a wind chill for the morning commute.

Still expecting plenty of sun Wednesday and highs more than likely staying shy of 60. We drop back into the 30s Wednesday night with the possibility of more areas of frost, then slowly climb into the 60s Thursday.

This cold snap is brief as we see temps warm back into the 70s under a mostly sunny sky Friday. A warm front lifting across the region Saturday increases our wind, warmth, and moisture. We have 30 to 40-percent rain coverage and highs in the 80s for our weekend into early next week.

Poor surfing conditions stick around the rest of this week, thanks to a small east swell and northeast windswell mix. Atlantic waters will be like a washing machine, so waves of two to occasionally four feet will be hard to ride. A chill in the air may keep the beaches fairly quiet the next couple days. If you’re braving the elements, our rip current risk stays moderate.

Tropical Update

Hurricane season wraps up on Friday and no new development is expected.
