CASSELBERRY -- Seminole County deputies are investigating a homicide in unincorporated Casselberry.

The incident happened at a home on Norwich Court, in the Howell Cove subdivision off Red Bug Lake Road.

Wallace Dean Worman’s neighbors say the man they knew as “Wally” was very active for an 87-year-old.

“He’s out riding his bike every morning and I’m out walking my dogs every morning and we always wave,” said Kim Kaminsky.

But Kaminski didn’t see Worman out on his bike Monday morning.

Investigators with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office say after some of Wally Worman’s good friends – who check on him every morning – couldn’t reach him, they came to his home and found him dead.

Investigators haven’t yet said how Worman died, but did say there were obvious signs of trauma.

“This gentleman died a violent death,” said Bob Kealing, a spokesperson for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

“We’re all in shock and we’re all devastated,” said Kaminsky. “We have a very close neighborhood and we all keep an eye out for each other.”

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office says there’s a man in custody they are calling a person of interest.

“We’re hopeful about this person of interest and certainly this is better than this person being at large,” said Kealing.

But investigators say the man considered a person of interest is no longer cooperating with them. They say it’s still unclear the man’s connection with the victim.

Investigators do say they noticed no signs of forced entry into Worman’s home.

Kaminsky says she’s having trouble believing anyone would want to do this to her neighbor and friend.

“Have no idea, no idea and now we’re all petrified,” said Kaminsky.

The sheriff’s office is talking to Worman’s neighbors to see if any of them had any surveillance systems, hoping those could provide video, which could be key evidence in the case.

If anyone has any information related to Worman’s homicide, you’re asked to call the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
