Alejando Vargas Martinez, 15, was shot early Tuesday just a half mile from the campus.
Orange County Sheriff's investigators are urging anyone who might have information about the four-door sedan seen in the surveillance video released Wednesday to call them immediately.
They're also offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that could help them solve the case.
A makeshift memorial was growing Wednesday near the site of his shooting, where people have left candles and other items for Martinez.
The teen was found lying in the middle of the road near Waldo Street and East Kaley Avenue.
Neighbors reported to investigators that they heard gunshots, then a car's tires screeching as it left the area.
Investigators haven't released a motive for the slaying and are still looking for the shooter.
"Bringing those that are responsible for his senseless death to justice will be crucial to our healing and bring everyone closure," a post on the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools website said.
Meanwhile, the school district has set up a memorial fund to help his family. All proceeds from the fund will go to the family, the school district said.
"Alejandro was a fine young man, with a great sense of humor and a love for life," the foundation's post read. "Our community is broken and we want to help his family pick up the pieces of their lives in any way possible."
