ORLANDO, Fla. — Walt Disney World has announced when park goers can expect DinoLand U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom to begin its phased closure as Disney prepares to reconstruct the land into Tropical Americas.

  • DinoLand U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom will begin its phased permanent closure in January 

  • DINOSAUR, The Boneyard and the surrounding eateries will continue operating for a period after this first closure

  • Disney also announced Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom will undergo a yearlong refurbishment

The attractions pages for both TriceraTop Spin and Fossil Fun Games (the carnival-themed games around DinoLand) have been updated to tell guests that they will close permanently on Jan. 13, 2025 “to make way for the Tropical Americas coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in 2027.”

At this time, it appears DINOSAUR, The Boneyard and the surrounding eateries will continue operating for a period after this first closure.

Disney also announced Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom will undergo a yearlong refurbishment beginning Jan. 6, 2025, stating on its website “the attraction will reopen with a little bit of new magic in 2026.”
