The last day to experience the Magic Kingdom attraction in its current form is Friday. By Saturday, it will be closed to begin a lengthy refurbishment, reopening sometime this summer with a new show.
Disney has shared a few details about what the new version will look and sound like. For one, it’s getting a new name—Country Bear Musical Jamboree. It will also feature new renditions of familiar Disney tunes performed in various country music styles, including bluegrass, rockabilly and Americana.
The old soundtrack included songs like “Blood on the Saddle,” “All the Guys that Turn Me on Turn Me Down,” and “Momma Don’t Whip Little Buford.” It’s unlikely any of those will return, but Disney has said the new show will include easter eggs including "a familiar tune fans may remember.”
The new version of Country Bear Jamboree will pay homage to the classic musical revues of Nashville, Tenn., like the Grand Ole Opry. Disney is working with Nashville musicians to get the sound just right.
And as for the attraction’s roster of musical bears, Henry, Big Al, Trixie and other characters are sticking around for the new show.
