Minion Cafe, the land’s main restaurant will soft open on Saturday, Universal confirmed to Spectrum News in an email.
“Universal Orlando Resort will begin the soft opening of a collection of new experiences for guests of all ages inspired by the beloved ‘Minions’ franchise, including the marquee dining location, Illumination’s Minion Cafe,” the resort said in a statement.
The restaurant will have nearly 20 menu items that are inspired by characters from the film franchise. Items include Otto’s noodle bowl, a steak and “cheese ray” sandwich, Mel’s Meatball Mountain and Carl’s crispy cauliflower. There will also be desserts and specialty beverages.
Minion Cafe will have three different themed spaces, including a dining room designed to look like a Minions break room with a vending machine stocked with “mischievous items.”
The soft opening comes a little over a week after Universal opened its new “Evil Stuff” store, which is the exit gift shop for the new Villain-Con Minion Blast attraction.
Other experiences that will be part of Minion Land include the Bake My Day dessert shop, the Pop-A-Nana popcorn stand, and Illumination Theater for characters meet-and-greets.
Universal still has not yet announced an opening date for Minion Blast or the new Minion Land—both of which are expected to open this summer.
