ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is getting new Disney Vacation Club villas and recently-filed permits reveal more details about the project.

​A set of permits filed with the state shows what appears to be plans for the new DVC tower at the resort.

The permits call for "demolition of existing facilities and construction of (a) new building with supporting parking and amenities."

The documents also include diagrams that show the layout of the project, including the location of the new building, the parking lot and pool.

The new villas will be built in an area of the resort that includes the Spirit of Aloha dinner show building, which was permanently closed to make way for the expansion. 

Disney first announced plans for new DVC villas at the Polynesian Village Resort in March. Although the company didn't share many details about the addition, officials said at the time that the project would include new recreation and dining options.

Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows currently has 380 DVC villas. It's unclear how many rooms the new tower will have. 

The proposed DVC tower is expected to open in late 2024.
