KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Gaylord Palms Resort’s Cypress Spring Water Park has a brand-new attraction that offers twists and turns.

Crystal River Rapids hasn’t opened yet, but on Thursday the resort offered a peek at the water attraction that’s inspired by Florida’s spring-fed rivers.
The attraction’s racing currents, moving at about three and a half feet per second, will take visitors past cascading waterfalls, limestone walls and several leaf-shaped poles that sprinkle water.

Near the attraction is a new seating area with private cabanas and day beds that can be rented for the day. There’s also a refreshment area serving up American fare like flatbreads and burgers.
Once open, Crystal River Rapids will join the water park’s other offerings, including an AquaDrop slide and racing slides. The new attraction is part of the resort’s $158-million expansion which also includes new guests rooms and additional meeting space. The expansion is expected to be completed later this year.
Gaylord Palms Resort has taken steps to keep guests safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of measures have been implemented throughout the resort, including mandatory face masks in public areas, enhanced cleaning and social distancing.
