Destiny Wiggins is a multimedia journalist at Spectrum News 13 Orlando. Hailing from Sanford, Florida, her arrival at Spectrum News marks a special homecoming, and in her words, is “a dream come true”.
Destiny is an alumna of the University of South Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism. Shortly after graduating, Destiny packed up her belongings and moved to Bemidji, Minnesota. There, she began her career in news as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor for Lakeland News, a PBS affiliate. Bemidji is surrounded by three American Indian reservations, and during her time there, Destiny covered stories deeply impacting Native American and Indian communities, including the missing and murdered Indigenous women issue. Being far away from home, Destiny says she will always be grateful to northern Minnesota for welcoming her with open arms.
After nearly two years in Bemidji, Destiny took on a role at FOX28 in Savannah, Georgia. In Savannah, she tackled several national stories, including the state and federal trial of the three men convicted of Ahmaud Arbery's murder, the Leilani Simon case, and extensive coverage of the Senate race between Herschel Walker and Senator Raphael Warnock. Beyond reporting, Destiny served as a judge for a local Miss America Pageant, participated in Georgia's Pre-K week, and volunteered at various community events during her Savannah tenure. Now with four years of valuable experience, Destiny prides herself on cultivating strong and personable relationships within the communities she serves. She firmly believes that everyone has a unique story worth sharing.
When Destiny isn’t working, she loves to cook (and, weirdly enough, to grocery shop — she finds it therapeutic). She is also passionate about journaling and mentoring young girls. Destiny can spend all day binge-watching her favorite shows on HGTV and Food Network or spending quality time with her family. And, of course, she'll never pass up the opportunity for dessert.
Destiny's fun and bubbly personality makes her easily approachable, so don't hesitate to say hello if you see her around! You can connect with her on Facebook at DestinyWiggins TV and X (formerly Twitter) at @_DestinyWiggins.
