The Daytona Beach International Airport soared to 100 degrees Thursday afternoon. This was the warmest temperature in Daytona since August 2, 1999 - a stretch of 23 years!
The 100° temperature also tied the record for the day, which was set in 1944.
Orlando also highs not seen in years.
The Orlando International Airport climbed to 99 degrees, with ties the record last set in 1944.
This was the warmest temperature in Orlando since June 19, 2015, a seven year stretch.
The rest of central Florida also experienced near-record warmth, with Melbourne climbing to 95 degrees and Sanford seeing a high of 97 degrees.
More heat is expected Friday, with many areas soaring into the mid to upper 90s.
Scattered showers and storms will arrive late Friday, which will finally end the warm spell across the area.
