After a jammed-packed winter week, most of the Ohio valley is left covered in snow, and some places have been covered with snow for weeks now!
In Cincinnati, it has been a record-setting snowy February, and the month isn’t over. Cincinnati has picked up on 21.9 inches of snow officially at the Cincinnati international airport, CVG.
So far, this February’s snowfall total is ranked 2nd on record for the snowiest February.
The snowiest February on record for Cincinnati is 26.1 inches back in 2010.
The biggest snowmaker this year was from February 8-9. Cincinnati saw a two-day total of 9.8 inches from this winter storm, which was the highest, two-day snowfall total at CVG since March 7-8, 2008, when we saw 10.7 inches.
Downtown Cincinnati picked up on 7 inches, with surrounding communities ranging from six to ten inches of snowfall.
According to the NWS, by February 18, CVG has had measurable snow on 11 days of the month thus far, and it is the most in any month since February of 2014. The office also adds the current 10-inch snow depth is the highest at the site since 2015.
Most of the snow this year in Cincinnati has been in February. The snowfall total so far this winter is 29.2 inches, and the average for winter snowfall totals is 22.1 inches.
Last year, the city barely picked up on any snow! The season total for 2019-2020 was only 11.2 inches.
Will February 2021 break the snowiest February on record in Cincinnati at CVG?
There is still some time to make up the 4-inch difference, but we expect temperatures to warm above freezing next week, so it might be a stretch. However, it’s been an impressively snowy month this year for the Cincinnati area!
