ORLANDO, Fla. — The trend of having warmer and drier than average months continued into the New Year for Central Florida.

Morning low temperatures were much warmer than average compared to the high temperatures for all spots in Central Florida.

High pressure locked in the warmth for the first half of January before a few cold fronts came through toward the end of the month that brought down temperatures to close out the first month of 2020.

The humidity was high too during early January and this led to several mornings where it felt more like spring rather than January. Many spots set several record warm low morning temperatures.

Melbourne's morning lows ran more than seven degrees warmer than average while Orlando's were more than six degrees warmer than average.

Compare those numbers to the high temperatures and Orlando's highs were more than five degrees warmer than normal while Melbourne's highs were just under three degrees warmer than average.

The coldest morning of the month was January 22 and every spots finished drier than average. The biggest rainfall deficit was in Daytona Beach.
