ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 44-year-old bicyclist was killed early Monday morning while attempting to cross the John Young Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At around 3:50 a.m., the unnamed bicyclist was trying to cross the John Yong Parkway, north of an intersection, from west to east when a SUV traveling northbound struck the man with the front of the vehicle, stated the FHP in a press release.

The Orlando man was taken to an Orlando Health hospital, where he died, the FHP confirmed, adding that he did not have a helmet on.

The unidentified 46-year-old SUV driver, also from Orlando, was not injured, stated the FHP.

The FHP stated the crash is under investigation.
