ORLANDO, Fla. — First Academy golfer Mi Li is all about the details, from her swing to what she eats during a round.

What You Need To Know

  • First Academy golfer Mi Li excells in her sport

  • After being sidelined in 2020 with a wrist injury, she's now working on her third state title in a row

  • If Li wins another individual state title this season, she’ll only be the fourth female golfer ever to accomplish the feat

“I split the 18 holes into six holes,” Mi Li said. “First six will be more crunchy stuff, like nuts or dry berries. The second six would be beef jerky or peanut butter sandwich.”

Whatever it takes for Li to be on top of her game, it seems to be working. The senior is already a Class 1A, two-time individual state champion.

This season she’s going for her 3rd state title in a row.

“We’re still trying for a team (state championship), but I’ll try my best and see if I can individual as well,” said Li.

Controlling what she can is a lesson Li learned in 2020 when she was sidelined for six months with a wrist injury.

After she recovered, Li developed her routine and stuck to it. If something goes wrong, she knows how to fix it.

“When you play good it’s obviously fun, but when you play bad it’s not that fun,” said Li. “But you still enjoy it, you have control of the ball. You know where it’s going. Sometimes, when it’s out of your control, you’re trying to figure out a way to get it back. So, it’s a pretty fun of process of how to figure it out.”

The Ivy League-bound golfer has history in her sights.

If Li wins another individual state title this season, she’ll only be the fourth female golfer ever to accomplish the feat.
