The series, hosted by the FC Series, marks the first time the Premier League has played a preseason tournament in the United States. It previously hosted preseason matches in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand as part of the biennial Premier League Asia Trophy tournament begun in 2003.

"We are delighted to be bringing six clubs to the USA in July for the first-ever Premier League Summer Series," Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said. "Our clubs have incredible supporters in the US, who passionately follow their teams throughout the season.”

The announcement of the exhibition in Orlando comes after 10,000 fans shared their passion for the league’s competition at a Premier League Mornings Live fan festival at Universal Orlando Resort in January.

“We have seen this dedication firsthand from the tens of thousands who have attended our Mornings Live fan events and are excited to be building on this by bringing live Premier League action to five cities this summer,” Masters added. "We are currently enjoying one of the most competitive Premier League seasons of all time at both ends of the table and I am sure we will see some thrilling matches during the tournament."

In addition to the Orlando match, the Summer Series 2023 also includes:

As part of the tour, the Premier League said it will work with a range of grassroots and community organizations in each host city — including FC Series — to create a program of community and youth soccer initiatives.

The FC Series  is the national expansion of the Florida Cup, the Sunshine State’s largest annual soccer and music event. Arsenal kicked off its 2022 FC Series last July with a friendly victory against Major Soccer League’s Orlando City Lions, followed by the Gunners’ win against Chelsea. That match set attendance record of 63,811 at Camping World Stadium.

Tickets for the Aston Villa-Fulham match in Orlando will be available via presale on April 25, at premierleague.com/SummerSeries, with general sales opening April 26.
