Livingston has been playing basketball for as long as he can remember and it didn’t take him long to fall in love with the sport.
“My whole life, since I was a little kid. Me playing YMCA and me euroing somebody and everybody going crazy,” said Livingston.
That passion for basketball keeps in the gym even during the offseason.
“It says a lot. It says he wants to be great. He is dedicated to his craft and he continues to work day in and day out,” said Austin Banks, an assistant basketball coach at Wekiva.
“Keep working, stay in the gym, no breaks, just keep working and it will all pay off,” said Livingston.
That extra work is starting to pay off. At just 15 years old, the point guard helped led his AAU team to a 26-11 record this summer, including an undefeated record against Florida teams.
His motivation comes from one of his biggest supporters.
“I just always wanted to help my mom out. She’s a single parent, five kids, she needs help so I’m trying to get to the NBA to help her out,” said Livingston.
So, as Darius continues to climb to the top, he remembers what his loved ones tell him daily.
“They are just like keep going, don’t quit, don’t get mad, just keep going,” said Livingston.
With that mindset and his skill set, Darius’ future is bright.
“The sky is the limit so how ever far he wants to take it he will take it but I see there is nothing stopping him. Nothing stopping him at all,” said Coach Banks.
