ORLANDO, Fla.---
As an Orlando Magic point guard, being unselfish is part of the job description.
“Just doing whatever it takes to help the team win,” DJ Augustin said. “That’s all I’m about being consistent as long as we win and play together as a team everybody wins.”
Turns out the skill set translates.
“No Uno! I said it!” Augustin says as he plays a game other than basketball. It’s a couple hours after practice and Augustin is playing the card game Uno at AdventHealth Children’s Hospital with several patients and their parents.
“We’re not just basketball players we are people also,” Augustin said. “And to be able to come here and put a smile on these kids faces it means a lot to us and means a lot to me as a person.”
As a father himself Augustin knows giving just a little time means a lot for the parents and their kids.
“They are little kids and the things they’re going through and just to be able to play games and smile and still have that attitude with everything they are going through it makes you feel super blessed.”
