ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Firefighters remain on the scene of a church fire Tuesday morning, after flames destroyed one of the buildings at Agape Assembly Baptist Church Monday night.
What You Need To Know
- Firefighters using special tools to detect any hotspots
- Orange County Fire Rescue says no one was hurt
- The cause of the fire is still under investigation
An official with the Orange County Fire Rescue (OCFR) said Monday night, the 3,000-square-foot building at the Pine Hills church at 2425 N Hiawassee Rd. was destroyed as firefighters fought and extinguished the flames, and were able to contain most of the damage to the single building.
Hiawassee Road was shut down for a while Monday as crews battled the blaze.
Early Tuesday morning, crews kept watch over the structure to ensure no hotspots flared up; they used thermal imaging cameras to help them do that.
This meant that crews were placed on rotating shifts throughout the night.
OCFR stated no one was hurt. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
