State Rep. Taylor Yarkosky won the race for Florida’s House District 25 race Tuesday. Democratic challenger Fody Merritt Jr. came in second. 

Yarkosky took office in 2022. He was born in Iowa, but lives in Montverde. He served on the Health and Human Services Committee. 

Merritt was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and he served in the Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. He has career experience working as a correctional officer.
