CELEBRATION, Fla. - Eleven neighbors in Celebration are making their neighborhood a little bit flashier for Halloween. Here are five things to know about the Lights on Jeater Bend Halloween show.
1. Eleven neighbors have a yearly hobby of creating a synchronized light show jam-packed with projections, special effects, music, and - of course - dancing lights. They live on Jeater Bend in Celebration.
2. Calvin Slated has lived there since 1996. This was his idea. Justin Pickle - who's in law enforcement - is his neighbor. "Initially, when Cal came over, I told him to get lost because I knew it would be a lot of work," Pickle laughed. But it didn't take much convincing, and other neighbors joined in.
3. They're using brand new software for their nightly light shows. Everything runs off a laptop. So this means they can create countless color sequences and themes with just a few clicks.
4. The public is welcome to experience the attraction - free of charge - nightly from 7 - 9:30 p.m. However, neighbors are raising money for their favorite charity if you want to donate. They picked St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in order to help support the homeless and hungry.
5. If you don't have time to GPS and make it down to their street this Halloween, the Christmas display is on deck. "It's actually an easy transition now because with pixels and us being able to change the color, we only put them up once," Slater said.
