ORLANDO, Fla. — Two fraternities at the University of Central Florida have been placed under suspension after multiple reports of alleged hazing that were "dangerous and degrading," according to a university spokesperson.
Sigma Chi and Delta Upsilon are both facing felony hazing investigations by UCFPD due to the allegations.
The university spokesperson says the suspensions prevent on and off-campus activities, including recruitment, socials and more.
Both Sigma Chi and Delta Upsilon were also suspended by their national chapters.
“UCF unequivocally condemns hazing in all forms, and we are committed to holding individuals and organizations accountable for actions that threaten the safety and well-being of our students and others,” the UCF spokesperson said in their statement. “UCF emphatically commends the bravery and leadership of members of our community who have actively come forward to report concerns — their courage ensures these actions will not be accepted and fosters a stronger UCF community that prioritizes safety and respect.”
