DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Freddie Mercury's magnetism and showmanship is kept alive by a touring tribute band.
- One of the world’s most sought-after Queen tribute bands is about to rock the U.S. once more.
- Patrick Myers is the Killer Queen front man, assuming the role of the legendary Freddie Mercury.
- This whole journey for Myers started when he was in college back in 1993. He and some friends wanted to put on a tribute show after Mercury had died. That one show turned into international stardom, selling out the same arenas that Queen had during its peak.
- Killer Queen is making a stop in Daytona Beach at the Peabody Auditorium. Myers says non-arenas pack in the same amount of energy. “You don’t tone your performance down for the venue, you make the venue rises up to the performance,” he said via a virtual interview from his home in the U.K. “It has been brilliant fun. It has been surreal. It’s been a bit crazy, but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”
- You’ll hear the mega hits like "Bohemian Rapsody" and "We Will Rock You." Expect pyrotechnics, too. Killer Queen performs at the Peabody Auditorium March 7 at 8 p.m. Tickets are about $60.
