LEESBURG, Fla. — Just two months after Leesburg city leaders voted to move forward with a plan to add fluoride to the city’s drinking water, they are reversing course.

In a city commission meeting Monday night, commissioners voted 4-1 to end the fluoride additive project.

Commissioner Jimmy Bury was the only ‘no’ vote.

City Manager Al Minner said there were political and financial factors that put the vote on Monday night’s agenda, adding that there is no official state or federal guidance about the issue which is causing hesitancy.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
