LAKE MARY, Fla. — In Seminole County, there is a group of people that come together weekly and let their creativity flourish, one stitch at a time.
What You Need To Know
- The crochet club started around 15 years ago
- All kinds of needlework is welcome in the group
- People of all ages are part of the club
The library system hosts what has become known as the “Lake Mary Crochet Club,” led by Lynn Martinez.
“I’m doing a baby blanket, which I might turn it into a baby carrier blanket,” Martinez said.
The beauty of the Crochet Club is that they allow any and every kind of creation made by any kind of needlework. Martinez has been part of it for 15 years, not long after it started.
How she joined is simple.
“I have a very, very tough sister-in-law here that does crochet work beautifully, I got jealous, I wanted to learn,” Martinez said.
Now, she is far from a novice, and the end result gives her quite a good feeling.
“Fabulous,” she said. “Because it’s something that when it comes out right, it’s beautiful.”
The club has gained so much traction over the years that kids have become part of it, and she helps them out, too.
The club meets every Tuesday at the library in Lake Mary from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and anyone is welcome to attend.
