VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County’s public transportation system, Votran, will adjust routes and schedules this month to enhance efficiency and streamline operations based on ridership data, the county said.

Votran said changes will begin Sunday, Feb. 23.

Here is what riders can expect when the changes take effect:

East Volusia

  • Night and Sunday Service: All routes will originate from the Transfer Plaza instead of the Beachside Intermodal Transfer Facility (ITF). Routes 1 and 3 will meet at A1A and Granada Boulevard, while Routes 4 and 17 will meet at A1A and Dunlawton Avenue. Minor schedule adjustments will be made for all routes. These routes will depart from the Transfer Plaza from the same location as their weekday daytime counterparts.
  • Route 8: Outbound trips will be adjusted near Bellair Plaza. Buses will turn onto Plaza Boulevard from Halifax Drive to A1A, serving Bellair Plaza from a new stop on Plaza Boulevard. This routing has been in place as a detour for several months.
  • Route 11: Outbound trips will follow a new route near Mason Avenue and Derbyshire Road, turning onto White Street from Mason Avenue, then left onto Brentwood Drive, and right onto Derbyshire Road. This detour pattern has also been in place for several months.
  • Transfer Plaza Departures: All trips departing from the Transfer Plaza will leave on the hour or 30 minutes past the hour instead of the current schedule of two minutes past the hour or 32 minutes past the hour. Exceptions include Route 1, which will continue to depart at 35 minutes past the hour, and the afternoon trip for Route 3C, which will remain at 3:15 p.m.

West Volusia

  • Route 34: The route will run all day and be extended through Downtown DeLand to the Amelia Superstop via the DeLand ITF and U.S. 17/92. Buses will depart from the Amelia Superstop on the hour from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the DeLand SunRail Station 35 minutes past the hour from 6:35 a.m. to 8:10 p.m. Trips will serve the DeLand ITF at 48 minutes past the hour when traveling toward the Amelia Superstop and 14 minutes past the hour when traveling from it. On Saturdays, the route will operate only between the DeLand ITF and Amelia Superstop, with no service to the DeLand SunRail Station.

The county said Votran staff will assist riders on impacted routes with any questions about the changes. Flyers will also be posted on those routes detailing the changes.
