PALM COAST, Fla. — A large chunk of ice fell from the sky and through the roof of a home in the Seminole Woods subdivision, and other chunks of ice scattered across the roadway, the Palm Coast Fire Department said Monday in a post on Facebook.
A neighbor called to report the incident, and fire department officials said they found a hole in a metal roof and ice in the house.
“So, when the crews arrived here, they observed several large chunks of ice out on the ground and here on the street. And as well as a visible hole in the roof of the house behind me,” Lieutenant Patrick Juliano of the Palm Coast Fire Department said.
That hole was caused by a block of ice six feet long and three feet wide. It ended up inside, but luckily no one was at home.
No one was hurt. The Palm Coast Building Department inspected the house and found it safe to live in, officials said.
Firefighters reported the incident to the Federal Aviation Administration.
