ORLANDO, Fla. — A popular restaurant is shut down indefinitely.
The Waterfront sustained major damage from an overnight fire.
The Orange County Fire Department worked to put out the flames Sunday morning, but for as for what’s next — that’s still uncertain.
It’s something owner Ryan Davis never expected to see.
“My wife woke me up saying that there was a problem, so I jumped up and came down here,” he said.
The famous restaurant is now unrecognizable.
“They salvaged most of the building, but as you can see behind me, it’s still quite a bit of damage,” Davis said.
He worries about his staff, who will have to get new jobs.
“It’s going to take a lot of rebuilding and support,” Davis said. “The waterfront has been here since 1972. It’s a community icon. We don’t want it to go away, we don’t want to lose it over this.”
As for now, Davis is taking one day at a time, as he figures out what to do next.
No injuries have reported.
The cause of what started the fire is still unknown.
Davis said he’s creating a GoFundMe page for his staff to help them get through this time.
