While the airport is doing what they can to ensure a smooth process, storms across the southeast made things difficult.
MCO alone faced over 550 delays and at least eight cancellations, according to flight tracking site FlightAware as of Saturday night.
It impacted folks like Krisann and Dave Foss.
“There is a two-hour delay coming here, so it will be a two-hour delay getting out,” said Dave Foss.
The two are traveling back to Seattle after going on a Disney Cruise, and were in surprisingly good spirits despite their delay.
“Kind of expecting it because we heard it was a busy travel day and just trying to make do," said Krisann Foss. "It’s not the end of the world.”
The couple instead spent their downtime in the atrium reading books and enjoying each other’s company.
They shared some helpful tips for those still needing to travel going into the new year.
“I think just planning on being flexible and be prepared to spend time reading or whatever you like, or maybe pick a different day other than December 28th," the Foss's shared.
On Sunday, about 186,000 people are expected to be at the airport.
If you are traveling at any point within the next few days, be sure to check MCO’s website or app to see available parking spaces before heading out.
