SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation and Seminole County is working to make a busy intersection safer and easier to see.

What You Need To Know

  • FDOT and Seminole County have removed hurricane debris from Cherry Laurel Drive and County Road 46A

  • Before, the pile of debris made it harder to see oncoming traffic at that intersection

  • FDOT also plans to add sign enhancements to the crosswalk at that intersection

Gina Hardman contacted Traffic Inbox about debris piled up at the intersection of Cherry Laurel Drive and County Road 46A. She said it's difficult to see oncoming traffic when turning eastbound onto CR-46A because of a large pile of debris.

“There’s this little cut through and when you get up here to the stop sign, you’ll notice all of the debris,” Hardman said. “It’s very difficult to see oncoming traffic.”

She also said the crosswalk at that intersection is dangerous, especially at night, due to the lack of lighting.

“If you notice, there’s a crosswalk right here. It’s not lit up. And at night, if somebody was walking, or just even during the day, and you’re trying to hustle to get back to where you need to go, someone’s going to get hit,” she said.

After reaching out to FDOT, spokesman Tim Freed said the debris at that intersection was from Hurricane Milton, and they have since coordinated with Seminole County to remove the pile.

“It’d be very helpful because then people could see better and wouldn’t have to take a chance, you know? Sticking their nose out as you turn,” Hardman expressed.

Freed also said, as part of improvements to nearby intersection CR-46A and Rinehart Road, FDOT plans to add sign enhancements to the crosswalk Hardman is worried about.
