The Honolulu Emergency Medical Services will be accepting applications for paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians starting Sunday.
Those interested in a career of serving their communities can apply online at the Department of Human Resources website.
The application process will close on Dec. 21 for paramedics and Dec. 26 for EMS dispatchers (EMT III).
All who apply must have the following:
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Must be a citizen, national or permanent resident of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment
- Driver’s license
- Proof of EMT/MICT licensure required prior to appointment
The starting pay for positions:
- EMT II – $64,260/yearly, $5,355/monthly, $30.89/hourly
- EMT III – $69,576/yearly, $5,798/monthly, $33.45/hourly
- Paramedic – $82,248/yearly, $6,854/monthly, $39.54/hourly
Candidates who are accepted will be placed on an eligible hiring list and referred to the Honolulu Emergency Services Department. The list is good for one year and can be extended by the director of DHR.
