LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A judge in Lake County on Tuesday sentenced Laurie Shaver to life in prison in connection with her husband's death in 2015.

A jury found Laurie Shaver guilty of second-degree murder in September.

She has 30 days to appeal the sentence.

Michael Shaver went missing in November 2015 and his remains were uncovered in 2018 under a concrete slab in the backyard of their Clermont home.

Laurie Shaver had contended in her trial that one of her children and her boyfriend at the time shot Michael Shaver after a physical altercation between the couple. She also testified that she had endured alleged physical and emotional abuse by Michael Shaver.
