VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency said it may be able to reimburse eligible Volusia County residents whose private wells or septic systems were damaged because of Hurricane Milton residents for costs incurred from a licensed technician's estimate detailing necessary repairs or replacements to the disaster-damaged systems.

FEMA also may cover the costs of repairing or replacing wells or septic systems, which are often not covered under standard homeowners insurance policies.

Homeowners who have already applied for FEMA assistance but did not include damages to their well or septic systems are encouraged to call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 for information on amending their applications.

Residents can apply for FEMA assistance online at www.disasterassistance.gov, through the FEMA mobile app, or by calling the FEMA helpline.

FEMA's Disaster Survivor Assistance teams also are available at three locations in Volusia County from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. They can help residents affected by the hurricane in navigating FEMA's services to ensure they understand and can access the full range of available disaster assistance programs. Residents can meet with DSA staff to discuss their specific needs, learn about assistance programs, apply in person and check the status of existing applications.

FEMA's teams will offer detailed information in areas such as temporary housing, emergency supplies and claims for property damage at the following sites:
