BUSHNELL, Fla. — Local, state, and federal partners are in full force as Floridians recover from Hurricane Milton.
FEMA, for example, is currently surveying areas of Sumter County, where many properties are still underwater.

It’s a mission that Sara Zuckerman says got her excited to join the FEMA team.
“I joined FEMA because I love to help people," she said. "I come from the Virgin Islands, so I have been a hurricane survivor myself."
Zuckerman and the Disaster Survivor Assistance team are walking door-to-door in areas affected by Milton in Sumter County to make sure they have the information they need, and to give them a chance to sign up for FEMA assistance.
It’s just one of many agencies helping people get back on their feet after Milton.
“As FEMA, we are the federal agency looking after the state disaster declaration," Zuckerman said. "But we work hand-in-hand with state and local communities to make sure that everyone in the community’s needs is met."
While water levels continue going down, FEMA officials say teams will continue their efforts in affected Florida communities.
“I’ve been on the ground since Debby, and now Helene, and now Milton," Zuckerman said. "FEMA will be here until the work gets done."
Officials also urging residents with internet access to use FEMA's online portal.
