“This was a total surprise when we woke up. We said, ‘Woah! Good thing we didn’t see it,’” Robin Massa, an Orange City resident, said.

Massa lives close to where a road collapsed near Monastery Road.

This lifelong Florida resident has seen a lot of storm damage, but nothing quite like this.

“We’ve got water where we have not had water before in the back. My neighbors have a complete lake. They lost their whole pump, lost everything. This street over here, house is flooded. You’d think it’s a lake, but it’s not,” Massa said.

Throughout Orange City, water is surrounding homes and cars.

People are even trying to get through water and realizing they can’t make it and have to turn around.

“So, I think it was the perfect storm. I think with all the prior rain, the water didn’t have any place to go. It all came up and went,” Massa said.

Countywide, many of them are closed off as crews plan repair work.
