TRANSIT OPERATIONS

Toll Roads Suspended

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the suspension of tolls across Central Florida and West Florida, as well as Alligator Alley, in preparation for Hurricane Milton. Tolls will be waived for seven days beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7. 

The Florida Department of Transportation and Florida's Turnpike Enterprise will suspend toll collection at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, as well, with tolls being reinstated on Monday, Oct. 14, at noon. The suspension may be extended as needed.

Toll facilities for FDOT, FTE, Central Florida Expressway Authority, and Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority are included with this suspension.

Interstate Traffic

The emergency shoulder use allowed Oct. 9 along Interstate 4 (I-4) and portions of Interstate 75 (I-75) to help ease evacuations before Hurricane Milton has been discontinued, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Interstate shoulders are only to be used for emergency stopping, FHP said. Motorists may not drive along the inside or outside emergency lanes.

SunRail

SunRail commuter rail will resume normal service Monday morning, Oct. 14, following regular schedules for all trains.

SunRail service will continue to be suspended Friday, Oct. 11, as crews prepare the railway corridor for reopening following Hurricane Milton. Crews are inspecting the corridor to assess the storm’s impact and resolve any issues to reinstate rail service for SunRail, as well as freight and Amtrak operations. Restoration of service includes reinstalling gates, removal of any obstruction on the railroad tracks, and conducting safety inspections.

Brightline

Service to and from West Palm Beach and Orlando is suspended until sometime Friday because of Hurricane Milton. Check Brightline's website for train status starting Friday. 

Lynx

The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) started operating a modified weekday schedule at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and said it plans a normal schedule on Friday. Links 155, 301, 302, 303, 304, 306 and 701 will not operate Thursday. Link 701 will resume Tuesday when Orange County Public School students return. NeighborLink service will resume on Friday.

Routes may still be modified for safety reasons, and routes may be detoured around areas that are still being cleaned up.

ACCESS LYNX will provide life sustaining trips only Thursday and Friday. Normal scheduling will resume on Saturday. Customers are encouraged to call 407-423-8747 and book their trip.

SunTran

Services in Ocala will be suspended at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10. 

They are expected to resume on Friday, Oct. 11, pending a safety assessment of travel conditions.

Space Coast Area Transit

All regular routes will be available Friday.

Port Canaveral

Waterside and landside operations at Port Canaveral have resumed. The port reopened at 11:30 a.m. Friday with no restrictions.

Cruise passers should contact their cruise lines for updated schedules, according to a statement by the port authority.

The Jetty Park day park and beach will reopen Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7 a.m. However, the Jetty Park Campground and Fishing Pier will remain closed until further notice, the port statement said.

Bridge Operations

Volusia County has reopened the Highbridge and Main Street Intracoastal Waterway low-rise drawbridges to boat traffic following recent inspections. Bridge operations were temporarily suspended because of Hurricane Milton, but both bridges have now been cleared for safe operation. Mariners can resume normal operations through these waterways.

Parking Garages

Orange County

All vehicles parked in four city of Orlando garages for free during Hurricane Milton had to be removed by noon Friday, Oct. 11 to avoid charges.  

Marion County

Overnight parking restrictions at the downtown Ocala parking garage have been lifted until Sunday, Oct. 13.

Volusia County

Volusia County's Ocean Walk Garage is open to the public, free of charge. Residents in low-lying, flood-prone areas are allowed to utilize this resource to protect cars from flooding. 

Garbage Collection and Recycling

Brevard County

On Friday, Oct. 11, Waste Management will collect carted garbage, carted recycle, and carted/containerized yard waste only, for those residents with regular Friday service.  No loose vegetative debris or bulky waste will be collected on Friday. Commercial service will follow its normal schedule.

Thursday residential garbage customers will be serviced on Monday, Oct. 14. Thursday residential recycle and carted/containerized yard waste customers will be serviced on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Marion County

Trash collection in Ocala will proceed as scheduled Wednesday. Trash will not be picked up Thursday, Oct. 10. 

To make up for Thursday's cancellation, sanitation services will operate Friday, Oct. 11.

Osceola County

Osceola County and its municipalities are suspending all garbage collection after Tuesday. Updates will be provided on when they will resume later. 

Orange County

The Orange County Landfill and transfer stations are expected to reopen at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11.

Only residential garbage in the green lid carts will be collected when curbside collection resumes on Friday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 12, in areas that are accessible. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday customers should set out garbage green lid cans by 6 a.m. Friday, Oct.11. Regular collection services are expected planned to resume starting Monday, Oct. 14.

Yard waste collection will be delayed because of post-storm volume.

Orlando

  • The city of Orlando is picking up residential and commercial trash, yard waste and recycling Monday and Tuesday as usual. Service will be suspended starting at noon, depending on the operations of the Orange County landfill and weather conditions. The city will resume pickup, including missed collections, as soon as possible after Hurricane Milton, depending on weather and road conditions. Updates will be provided.

Winter Park

  • Waste Pro will resume regular household garbage pickup schedules Friday, Oct. 11. No construction debris will be collected.
  • On Saturday, Oct. 12, Waste Pro will begin picking up only properly bagged, containerized and bundled tree and other vegatative debris (not to exceed 50 pounds). If you have a large quantity of bags, all bags may not be picked up at once in order to service as many customers as possible. Depending on the amount of debris, this will take several passes before all debris is removed.

Seminole County

The County Landfill and Central Transfer Station will be closed on Friday, Oct. 11, with no collections. Both locations will reopen on Saturday, Oct. 12 through the weekend. Regular garbage collection services will resume on Monday, Oct. 14.

Winter Springs

  • Waste Pro customers will not have service on Wednesday, Oct. 9, Thursday, Oct. 10, or Friday, Oct. 11. All routes are expected to be back on schedule on Monday, Oct. 14. This will be a heavy day for all twice-weekly contracts (Seminole County).
  • Only schedule or set out bulk items Thursday, Oct. 17 or Friday, Oct. 18.

Sumter County

The County Landfill and Central Transfer Station will be closed on Friday, Oct. 11, with no collections. Both locations will reopen on Saturday, Oct. 12 through the weekend. Regular garbage collection services will resume on Monday, Oct. 14.

Wildwood

  • Solid waste collection services through Waste Management that normally occur on Friday will be done on Saturday, Oct. 12. Residents of The Villages section of Wildwood should call the district customer service center at 352-753-4508 or visit www.Districtgov.org for collection schedule updates.
  • As residents clean up yards, officials ask those on city-maintained roads to pile vegetative debris in rows along the right-of-way, out of the street. Crews on extended shifts will begin collecting piles Monday morning. Vegetative debris should not be placed in bags or contain non-vegetative materials. Residents on privately owned and/or maintained roads should contact their property management or homeowners association for information on how to prepare and dispose of storm debris. Residents of The Villages should refer to instructions from district management.

Volusia County

Volusia County Solid Waste has scheduled a makeup day for garbage and recycling collection that will take place Saturday, Oct. 12, for residents in unincorporated areas who did not receive collection on Thursday, Oct. 10, and Friday, Oct. 11. Residents should place their trash at the regular collection point by 6 a.m. Regular yard trash collection will resume as scheduled next week. 

Yard waste will not be collected on the makeup day.

The Tomoka Farms Road Landfill and the West Volusia Transfer Station were closed for Hurricane Milton. They were expected to reopen Friday.

Daytona Beach

  • Residential garbage was not be picked up Friday, Oct. 11. Regular garbage and recycling collections will resume on Monday, Oct. 14. 
  • Waste collections for storm debris will begin Monday, Oct. 21.
  • Residents should sort debris into separate piles for vegetative debris (leaves, branches and cut trees), construction and demolition debris (building materials, carpet, furniture, fences, drywall, etc.), and appliances and white goods (refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, stoves). Haulers will only pick up storm debris that is appropriately separated. Electronics and household hazardous waste will not be collected.

Port Orange

  • The city of Port Orange reported their will be no solid waste pickup on Friday. Regular Thursday items will be collected on Saturday, and Friday's items are currently scheduled for Sunday. 

Flagler County

Palm Coast

  • Regular trash pickup will resume on Friday, Oct. 11, but no recycling collection will be held that day. Keep swales clear, and do not include yard debris.

Entertainment

Winter Park Autumn Arts Festival

The festival will go on as planned on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central Park. The event is free.

UCF Football

The UCF-Cincinnati football game at FBC Mortgage Stadium will go on as scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

Kia Center

The Gold Over America Tour, starring Simone Biles and the superstars from the gymnastics world, will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 12, despite the recent impacts of Hurricane Milton. 

Country Thunder

The country music festival, which had been scheduled for Oct. 18-20, has been canceled. Country Thunder organizers worked alongside Osceola County Emergency Management and Osceola Heritage Park to assess the venue, and it was determined that the event could not be held safely after Hurricane Milton, the event announced Friday. Each ticket-holder will be contacted within 30 days with instructions to access refunds, organizers said in a statement. 

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church fall festival

The St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church's fall festival in Kissimmee, which had been scheduled for Oct. 12 and Oct. 13, has been postponed until Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

All performances and classes were postponed or canceled Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday Oct. 10.

Kristen Warren & Creek and The String Queens have been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. Thursday's performance of "Phantasmagoria XV: Grim and Grimmer Tales" was canceled. Those holding tickets can transfer tickets to the Friday, Oct. 11 or Saturday, Oct. 12 performances. All ticketing questions or concerns can be directed to the Bill & Mary Darden Box Office at 407-358-6603.

AdventHealth School of the Arts suspended classes Tuesday, Oct. 8 through Thursday, Oct. 10, including School of the Arts fall evening classes Tuesday, the Dance: Musical Theater Styles drop-in class and Homeschool for the Performing Arts classes.

City of Orlando Recreation Centers

All city of Orlando Neighborhood Centers will resume normal operations on Friday, Oct. 11, except the following five centers still without power. 

  • Rock Lake Neighborhood Center 
  • Rosemont Neighborhood Center 
  • Northwest Neighborhood Center 
  • College Park Neighborhood Center 
  • Dr. I Sylvester Hankins Park Neighborhood Center 

Morse Museum

The galleries and offices of The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art were closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10 because of severe weather conditions and public safety concerns caused by Hurricane Milton. Regular museum hours will resume as soon as public safety can be assured. 

Sports

NBA

The NBA has announced that the Orlando Magic vs. New Orleans Pelicans preseason game on Friday, Oct. 11, at the Kia Center, has been canceled due to Hurricane Milton. The game will not be rescheduled.

Single-game ticket purchasers will receive a refund for the game from their original point of purchase. Ticket-plan holders will receive communication on their accounts, as applicable.
