ORLANDO, Fla. — Early voting starts Monday for Orlando’s District 5 as seven candidates hope to fill in the vacant seat left behind by former city commissioner Regina Hill.
The reason for the special election is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended Hill from office after she was charged with elderly exploitation and fraud.
Hill, who represented District 5, was arrested on March 28.
Early voting starts Monday at 8 a.m. and will continue all week. Constituents can cast their ballots at the Supervisor of Elections Office. Voters must bring a photo ID.
Election Day for District 5 is set for next Tuesday, May 21.
There are seven candidates on the ballot for this special election.

- Former city of Orlando employee and executive director of a community redevelopment agency, Shaniqua “Shan” Rose
- Philanthropist Lawanna Gelzer
- Entrepreneur and business coach Tiakeysha Ellison
- Former Miss America 2004 and "Amazing Race" contestant, now public relations professional, Ericka Dunlap
- Grassroots activist Miles Mulrain Jr.
