ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — All former vote-by-mail requests in Florida expired on Jan. 1, 2025, because of a state law requiring voters to renew their requests after each federal general election cycle.
How to renew your vote-by-mail request:
- Online: Visit your county supervisor of elections’ website to submit a new request. Many counties offer online request forms. For example, Polk County provides an online request option.
- By phone: Contact your county supervisor of elections’ office directly. Phone numbers can be found on your county’s official elections website.
- By mail, fax, or email: Download and complete a vote-by-mail request form from your county supervisor of elections’ website. Submit the form via mail, fax, or email as instructed by your county’s elections office.
Important deadlines:
- Request deadline: The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot to be mailed is no later than 5 p.m. on the 12th day before the election.
- Return deadline: Completed vote-by-mail ballots must be received by your county supervisor of elections’ office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Returning your ballot:
- By mail: The United States Postal Service recommends mailing your completed ballot at least one week before Election Day to ensure timely delivery.
- In person: You can drop off your completed ballot at your county supervisor of elections’ office or at designated secure drop boxes at early voting sites in your county. Check with your local elections office for specific locations and hours.
By renewing your vote-by-mail request, you can continue to take advantage of this convenient voting method in Florida’s upcoming elections.
