ORLANDO, Fla. — Aquatica Orlando announced Thursday that its newest attraction, "Tassie's Underwater Twist," will have its grand opening on March 15.
Officials with Aquatica said the all-new waterslide will give riders the experience of being in Australia's Shark Bay, where they will glide through a digital underwater world set in sea grass meadows and brimming with marine life.
Guests will encounter species such as manta rays, humpback whales, colorful schools of fish, a variety of plant life, sea turtles and the occasional shark, all of which call the Shark Bay region home.
“Aquatica Orlando is proud to welcome the all-new Tassie’s Underwater Twist to our park, with its one-of-a-kind immersive experience and adrenaline pumping twists and turns,” Aquatica Orlando Park President Brad Gilmour said in a statement. “We are so excited for guests to experience this incredible immersive attraction that only Aquatica could create, while making unforgettable memories with family and friends.”
Riders will be able to enjoy the 129-foot-long waterslide in a two-person innertube while viewing a synchonized video display on the path of the ride. The importance of seagrass meadows will also be highlighted through visual components, encouraging visitors to learn more about seagrass meadows and the marine life that depends on them.
Aquatica annual pass members will be able to experience the attraction first before it opens to the public.
