ORLANDO, Fla — As travelers look ahead to a much calmer day weather-wise, flights in and out of the Orlando International Airport look to get back on track after several delays and cancellations during the height of Tuesday’s storms.

The FAA issued a ground stop shortly before 4 p.m. as storms moved through Central Florida into the evening hours.

Airlines canceled a few dozen flights, along with additional delays. At one point, the airport was under a tornado warning, forcing flights in and out to halt.

As storms rolled through the Orlando area, weather radar located debris likely over MCO from 55-mph winds. Traffic coming in and out of the airport was also stopped at one point, according to the Air Traffic Control Command Center.

The ripple effect led to a slew of cancellations and delays even after the FAA lifted the ground stop around 7:30 p.m.

The airport has had no reports of damage.
