The sales tax break on clothing, school supplies and computers runs from Jan. 1 to Jan. 14.

A Lake Nona mother and daughter say they plan on taking a trip to get everything they need on Monday.

“I need new pencils, pens,” said 11-year-old Aurelia Vozella, who is a student at Innovation Middle School.

Alisha Vozella, Aurelia’s mother and PTSA member, says her daughter is going through a growth spurt.

“Tennis shoes. That’s a definite must,” she said. “It’s perfect timing because we just went through Christmas... so for a parent and all the parents that I’m around we spend so much, but there’s always those little things that we forget.”

This family says they’re getting enough back-to-school supplies for the rest of the year.

“What you don’t want to do is to find out you’re in April and run out of materials that your kids need, and I think that’s a struggle for teachers also cause then they have to fill those gaps,” said Alisha.

The sales tax break also applies to online purchases.

The sales tax holiday does not apply to clothing with a sales price of more than $100 or any school supply with a sales price of more than $50.
