KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Over the past year Hope Partnership, an Osceola County nonprofit, has set up a free mobile shower unit every Monday where those without a home can clean up with dignity. As the temperatures continue to cool across Central Florida, many are thankful for the hot shower service.

“I’m homeless," Helman said. "And I need a shower cause its good hygiene, so I don’t get myself sick.”

The 34-year-old became homeless a few weeks ago and has little family to turn to in Central Florida. He is thankful to have a place to take a warm shower, get a meal and some clean clothes with these colder nights ahead.

“For a lack of a better term, it gives me hope. I know that sounds cheesy, but what can I say,” Helman said.

Scott says Hope Partnership is helping him to find a more permanent housing situation soon. Homelessness in Osceola County has increased by 67% in the area in the past 5 years, according to the organization.

"That is why are numbers continue to grow at an event like this,” said May Lee Downey, CEO of Hope Partnership. “Having a place where people can come to just get clean, is incredibly important.”

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office pays for the mobile unit set up in the parking lot.

The nonprofit also provides several services that include hot meals, clothing and even IDs for those living on the streets.
