The Volusia County School District has canceled classes Thursday at Spruce Creek High School due to a major power failure, and Marion County Public Schools canceled all after-school activities because of inclement.

Spruce Creek announced on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that electricity was not expected to be back on for the entire campus until around noon today.

They did not say if the power outage occurred from severe storms that moved across Central Florida overnight and into the early morning hours.

Spruce Creek officials said they would provide more details later regarding after-school activities.

All other county schools are still in session today.

Marion County afterschool programs will continue as normal, a district spokesperson said.
