The resort announced Thursday it had donated funds to support the expansion of workforce development and early learning student programs in Osceola, Lake, Polk and Seminole counties.

“Our company is very much rooted in storytelling, so supporting the future storytellers in our community is critical,” said Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs at Walt Disney World. “Career dreams begin in the classroom, and we’re helping students build a solid foundation to pursue those dreams and become who they imagine they can be.”

Disney employees, known as cast members, raised an additional $177,000 in school supplies and donations as part of the annual back-to-school drive that benefits A Gift for Teaching, a nonprofit that provides free supplies to teachers and their students.

To help with back-to-school efforts across the state, Disney also matched cast member donations during the school supply drive and Disney VoluntEARS spent more than 2,000 hours this summer helping students and teachers prepare for the first day back.
