MELBOURNE, Fla. — Florida Power & Light linemen restored power to Eau Gallie High late Thursday so classes and after-school activities at the school started for the academic year on Friday, Brevard County Schools said.
District officials said they expected a normal school day.
On the first day of school for the rest of the district Thursday, officials had to cancel classes at Eau Gallie High because of a power outage.
When students arrived at the school for the start of classes Thursday, they initially were instructed to report to the auditorium because it was the only building with working air conditioning, district officials said. By 9 a.m., another alert went out cancelling classes and activities for the day, officials said.
Officials said they still do not know what caused the power outage.
