Mears Connect and Sunshine Flyer announced Friday that they are merging services into one entity that will be called Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine.

“While we have been competitors in the past, we have always shared the same goals to provide guests with safe, reliable, cost-effective, stress-free travel between the airport and Walt Disney World Resorts,” Mears Transportation Chief Operating Officer Rebecca K. Horton said in a statement. “By merging operations, sharing ideas, expanding services, collaborating on what’s best for the guest, we believe we can provide an even better guest experience given the challenges and opportunities in today’s travel market.”

The new combined service will begin Aug. 1 and continue to offer transportation to the airport and Disney World hotels. The companies also promise enhanced booking capabilities and operational efficiencies as part of this new partnership.

“As partners, we will be able to bring even more features and benefits to our guests,” Sunshine Flyer General Manager Mark Sherman said in a statement. “Whether it is 24/7 service, express options or a private trip to ease guests’ minds the minute they step off the plane together, Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine is delivering more to our guests.”

In early 2022, Disney shuttered its complimentary Magical Express shuttle service after a 15-year run. Mears Connect and Sunshine Flyer emerged shortly after to fill the void.

Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine will be the only 24-hour shuttle service operating out of terminals A, B and C at the airport.

The company said Mears Connect customers with reservations will not be impacted by the change. However, Sunshine Flyer customers traveling between July 14 and July 31 will receive an email to confirm travel.

A dedicated hotline has been set up to assist customers with questions and reservations. The hotline, which will be available 24/7, is 407-423-5566.
