Chad Dakdouk is getting ready to take his family overseas this summer and said prices are already high.

"Well, last time I was overseas was 2017," he said. "The tickets were at the time maybe $1400 to $1500, now they are ranging from $1500 to $1800."

The Dakdouk’s are hoping to go to Lebanon this summer for a cousin's wedding, and right off the bat they know it’s going to cost them.

"Oh, definitely they are more high now, for sure," Chad Dakdouk said.

Travel expert Dr. Jasmien Lewis said there is a reason travelers will have to pay more this summer.

"Inflation plays a part in that," she said. "It’s mostly going to be your flight prices going to be higher. Gas is still on a higher side, fuel."

Data from the mobile travel booking site Hopper also shows demand for the summer travel season will be high, especially for international trips, like the trip the Dakdouks are getting ready to take.

Maya Dakdouk said that a longer layover is okay with the family, if it means a cheaper flight.

"I think the longest layover we did was, what was it, six to eight hours?" she said. "Around six to eight hours."

Lewis said people will find a way to travel because they want to enjoy a summer vacation.

"Most people are saying they are still going to travel no matter what because they are going to pay whatever it takes to go on vacation," Lewis said.
