ORLANDO, Fla. — Development projects within Lake County continue to increase, and it’s a topic that seems to divide each community.
Regina Cruz-Morales has lived in Clermont for 10 years. She’s seen some changes. Cruz-Morales is also a real estate agent. She’s seen people come and go for the community’s growth. Yet she says inventory is low.
"One of the things I’ve definitely seen is the price increases, of course. The price increase for home values," said Cruz-Morales.
Now, much of the rural area is seeing developments pop up in response to the demand.
"We’re seeing construction up and down Hwy 27. Of course, on State Road 50 another thing that has impacted our community is the traffic," said Cruz-Morales.
That’s a complaint Lake County Commissioner Sean Parks knows all too well.
"What I hear that people don’t want lake county to be another suburb of Orlando. We like being a part of the Orlando area and the Central Florida community, but we don’t want it to be just another suburb," said Lake Co. Commissioner Chairman Sean Park.
That’s why Commissioner Park wants to make sure the county is balancing the growth. Lake Co. Commissioners are working on a countywide green infrastructure plan partnering with cities on growing with conservation in mind.
Right now, Lake County records show 60 pending and approved developments up and down Lake County. Something residents can monitor on the county’s website.
