OCOEE, Fla — History has been made for Ocoee football. With their win over West Orange in Round 2 of the playoffs, they have advanced further than any Knight team before them. One of the reasons is because of the play of Ahlston Ware, someone who is always on the field.
What You Need To Know
- Ahlston Ware is a multi position player
- He is one of just a few to do so
- The team is looking to win the playoffs
"I play the positions that they need me in, to help us win," said Ware. "If I got to play quarterback, wide receiver, if I got to play DB, kicker, whatever position to play to win, I play it."
We have a couple of guys who do a lot of things and he is one of them between him Asaad Waseem, and Josh Guerrier, they play offense, defense and special teams, they put it on the line for us.
"We have a couple of guys who do a lot of things and he is one of them between him Asaad Waseem, and Josh Guerrier, they play offense, defense and special teams, they put it on the line for us," said 5th year head coach Aaron Sheppard.
And in the playoffs, everything is on the line. In round 2 Ahlston had 3 TD catches in their playoff win against their rivals, West Orange.
"I tried to play the best I can and what ever I got, they gave me," said Ware. "I knew this game really meant a lot to us."
This was redemption for the Knights, on November 1, Ocoee lost the district championship to the warriors, 41-17.
"It feels great. Beating us in the regular season didn’t really matter and the 2nd round really matters more because they were home and we weren’t and we get to continue our goal," said Ware.
With the win, they get to keep on practicing for the next round in the playoffs. Something that Ahlston get to brag about at home.
"It actually feels really good because my brother all came here, I had a lot of family members that came here they didn’t get as far as I did," said Ware.
"Its awesome, this is a good time of year to be practicing. If it gets dark before the end of practice is always a good thing," said Sheppard.
Practicing football is something that Ahlston has been doing his whole life, but playing this late in the season is a new experience.
"I have been playing it since I was 3 years old and ever since then It’s been a everyday thing," said Ware. "It’s actually my first time doing it so I think it will be a fun experience."
